NC Nanotech Accelerator reports funding of a second resident.

 

Greensboro, NC March 9, 2007:  DentalSafe, Inc., one of the initial firms in the new Greensboro-based NC Nanotech Accelerator, today announced that it has achieved initial funding sufficient to launch several innovations in 2007. 

 

DentalSafe will focus on the application of Nanotechnology to create breakthrough innovations in several fields of dentistry:

 

  1. Antimicrobials and disinfectants:    low cost, high efficiency, safe and “green” products to disinfect waterlines, dental equipment and tools, dentures and many other dental applications.
  2. UV setting and curing products:  replacing current metallic products and improving the effectiveness of the UV set adhesives.
  3. A variety of products to aid in denture applying dentists.  DentalSafe will work closely with Altadonics, a Winston-Salem based company serving this same market.

 

Dr. Reyad Sawafta, CEO of the NC Nanotech Accelerator and CEO of DentalSafe said,   “Discussions have been held with dentists who are actively seeking breakthroughs in these areas.  We expect quick commercialization of several products in 2007 with longer term developments, in concert with a Fortune 500 size partner, commencing next year as well.  A number of patent applications are being filed.

 

We are very excited by the potential of DentalSafe and the momentum this provides to the North Carolina Nanotech Accelerator.  We believe the funding of  two initial residents, DentalSafe and PhazeTek will be followed soon by funding of more firms anxious to benefit from the facilities, synergies and staff of the Accelerator, making it a primary engine of job creation in the Triad.”

 

Founding members of and investors in DentalSafe include three prominent Triad dentists, Dr. W. R. Price, Dr. M. Puckett and Dr. J. Odeh.  Additional investment will come from IMAF (Inception Micro Angel Fund of Winston-Salem, NC).
